Early moring fog at Lake Matheson
Talk about feeling really insignificant and totally alone in nature. I am perched on the steep edge of the lateral /walls moraine of the Tasman Glacier, Tasman Valley. The sandy looking valley between the mountains is actually the main Morraine covering the Tasman glacier itself. The Glacier has been gradually melted and thinned, and its surface has become covered in moraines – piles of rocks and sediment deposited by the glacier. Just out of shot in the bottom right corner is the edge of the glacier where you see icebergs breaking off the glacier and falling into the Tasman Lake (if you look closely you vcan actual see the ice of the glacier)
