  • Isthmus Peak, not at the top yet where you get views of both Lake Hawea & Wanaka. This is a view of Lake Hawea from about half way up the 1385m altitude walk. The walk was a killer, 20Km return climbing at 45degrees most of the way up to the peak at 1385m above sea level, so hard on the legs, knees and back on the way down, took me 10 hours , incl stopping for chats with tourists, making lots of shots and 20min at the top for lunch.

  • The remote Mavora Lakes conservation Park consist of two lakes named North Mavora and South Mavora (this shot). They are situated amongst an impressive landscape of mountains, lakes, forest and tussock grassland. It requires a 2 hour gravel road to reach the Lake track and then an hours walk through thick forest before you even see the lake
